Since as far back as records can show, epic stories have in most cases given superior roles to male characters as opposed to their female counterparts. Regardless of the existent relationship between male and female characters, whether wife, sister or girlfriend, a male character has emerged and portrayed a stronger role. Perhaps this is because male characters were mostly featured in the inception of tale-telling, and this peculiarity passed down through the human generations to date.

By depicting some of the distresses that women go through as well as their reluctance to trigger a change, her character illuminates feminine capabilities, which in turn challenge male domination significantly. Womanhood thus enables women to play prominent roles or have an influence on the plots through the characters they play in literature works.
