United States civil war the real reason it happened slavery or states rightsThe American civil war took place 1861-1865, and it was a war between the south states and the north states. The south states sought succession, and the north was strongly opposed to the succession because it supported union. The war shaped America today, and it was through this war that America became an indivisible nation and created liberty rights.
