The Media And How It Portrays Women

The Media And How It Portrays Women:Women are always at pressure to behave and act in a certain way. This mentality has already been ingrained in our cultures. Whenever we watch televisions, magazines or even in the internet, we see images of women.

The media thus portray the body of a woman as an object that must be perfected. The media do not know that some of the messages that they send out are not even good, and they are likely to promote bad behaviours among women. The most unfortunate thing is that sometimes the media portray pictures of women who are too thin such that they are below the normal weight (schlegel, 2013).

In conclusion, the media lays a lot on emphasis on beauty in women. The portray an ideal woman as thin. The media also influence women negatively. The end results are women who have a low self-esteem.
