The effects of new media on ethical, cultural practices and life style in India:Being among the globe’s biggest democracies as well as economy, India is an archetype of social and cultural icon that has been integrated with high moral values, plentiful labor, as well as a very rich biodiversity. Media in India has had a lot to gain in the middle of all the complexities facing the society. The media have been fruitful in the provision of information to the people as well as entertain and educate the world. All types of media have had an immense effect to the society and in the process, the media have faced numerous challenges and hurdles that they have been forced to overcome. However, it is the role of the old media to bridge the gap brought about by new media and ensure that the Indian culture and ethnic practices are not fully eroded. Where sanity and morals characteristic of the India culture has been lost due to westernization by the new media, the old media has the role of ensuring that moral and ethics prevail. It is therefore critical to note that both the new and old media are equally as important, not in a conflicting substitutive manner but rather in a complementary one.
