The city is Joliet, Illinois: Joliet is a city located in Kendal and Will counties in the state of Illinois in the U.S. Its location is 40 miles southwest part of Chicago. It is the county headquarters of Will County. Going by the 2010 census, the city lies among the fourth largest in Illinois and was estimated to have a population of 147433.The population have increased to 147806 as at 2013.
The city’s origin backdates to 1673 when Louis Joliet and father Marquette paddled along the river Des Plaines and camped in the area. In the year 1833 after the Black Hawk War, a cabin was built along the west side of the river Des Plaines by Charles Reed (Thompson 22).

Joliet is a major transportation center. It is located along the Des Plaines River which is a major waterway in the Northern Illinois. Joliet is among the busiest ports in Illinois. The presence of efficient mode of transport has facilitated the growth of trade in Joliet as well as other neighboring cities.
