Summary on a life cycle

Roundworms, also known as nematodes, are parasites that can infect humans. Ascaris lubricoides is one of the most common intestinal roundworm; it is said to be among the most common helminthic human infections globally. The roundworm is more prevalent in subtropical and tropical areas, particularly in regions with inadequate sanitation. In the United States, Ascaris lubricoides mainly occur in the southeastern rural regions (CDC, 2013).

Heavy infection also lead to intestinal obstruction, large masses of worms can obstruct the bowel lumen, this leads to acute intestinal obstruction. Sometimes, migrating adult worms emerge from the nose, mouth, inguinal canal and lacrimal ducts.
