Should the death penalty be banned as a source of punishment.

Should the death penalty be banned as a source of punishment: In accordance to the reports by Amnesty International, it is only one nation in the entire globe that has abolished the death penalty. Gabon abolished the death penalty in 2010, while twenty three nations performed the executions and sixty seven countries enforced death penalty in the same year.

Despite the world wide dire need to abolish death penalty, it still has a long way to go as it’s a challenge to convince all the nations to abolish the inhuman act. For instance in 2010, six nations and territories performed executions when one nation decided to expand the extent of death penalty.

In addition, less progress has been done in the field of law because most judicial aspects are taken for granted. For the last 10 years, thirty one nations abolished death penalty. But Iran, United States of America, Yemen and China frequently perform execution to offenders.

In this regard, nations that have abolished death sentences impose severe punishment to high profile offenders. Also, capital punishment cannot be imposed in any given nation because judicial institutions are prone to errors. Thus might convict an innocent person simply because he or she did not have adequate evidence.

Regardless of the valid aspects that prove the importance of imposing execution within the society, I strongly support the ban of death penalty as a source of punishment.
