Schizophrenia and its management: This is a mental disorder characterized by the breakdown of thought processes and uncoordinated emotional responses. People suffering from schizophrenia experience common symptoms as delusions, paranoia, hallucinations, disorganized thinking usually reflected in speech, and lack of emotional intelligence.
Such symptoms start occurring in young adults and are accompanied by severe social dysfunctions of the affected individuals. Among the contributing factors of schizophrenia, include genetics, psychological, early environment, neurobiological and other social factors.
As well, research indicates that some prescription drugs appear to worsen or entirely cause the situation. Currently, research is directed towards establishing the role of neurobiology in this disorder.

Of great importance is research on the prevalence of this diseases, possible causes, and management options in order to mitigate effectively the effects of schizophrenia not only on individuals, but also on the economy and the entire public.
It is also important that the public be educate on this condition in order to make them more informed and as well eliminate the stigma associated with the disease.
Governments world over should seek to establish the prevalence of this condition and the number of people living with schizophrenia in the bid to establish and direct funding to the management of the condition. Lastly, people should be encourage to adopt more healthy lifestyles and avoid substance and drug abuse.
