As an occupational health and safety profession, I received information from a food distribution warehouse that quite some employers had been complaining of feeling sick.
The employees that report the illnesses are usually those who work in the refrigerated sector of the warehouse. I must perform an analysis of the work area, conduct research on the cause of the illnesses, and finally, give recommendations.
It was essential for me to perform a physical analysis of the working condition of the workers not only in the refrigeration area but in the entire warehouse. This was to ensure that the recommendations given would provide an all-around solution. Firstly, the warehouse had 20 docks for loading. It also had two railroad car lines that end directly inside the warehouse which were relatively close to the production area.
