In order to understand how personality the comprehension of what gender means as well as how it interacts with social-cultural factors and biological factors is paramount. Unlike sex (that involves the biological aspect of being either male or female), gender encompasses the psychological, social, cultural and behavioral aspects that are linked with being either male or female. As such personality is a function of the interaction between the gender and biology and social-cultural factors (Ardolino, 2013).

In conclusion, gender is assigned by the society as is the culture depending on either sex or sexual orientation. Considering that behavior is learnt, some aspect of personality will be taught through behavior that coincides with both the gender roles, as well as the biological abilities such as muscular strength in men and emotions in women (mheducation.com).
