On The Road. The Original Scroll-penguin edition: Jack Kerouac was born in 1922 in Lowell, Massachusetts. He had a catholic early education, and Columbia University admitted him on a football Scholarship, where he met William Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Allen Ginsberg.

He quit school during sophomore year and linked with Merchant Marine, beginning his youth travels which would become On the Roads foundation, his most acclaimed and second novel. Published in 1957, On the Road became the most popular work of the writers of beat generation.

It is known to be an account of Himself (“Sal Paradise”) and Neal Cassady (“Dean Moriarty”) during their travels. Kerouac’s friends are the main characters. Most of them noticeable Beat Generation writers like William Burroughs (“Bull Lee”) and Allen Ginsberg (“Carlo Marx”).

At the beginning he is a rugged ex- convict lusting after women but the end should have also portrayed a changed man ready to look for employment to help support his children as a way to show that even the worst characters can rise up and become well behaved citizens.

The book is a general description of two friends with dissimilar characters and it clearly suggests that friends can be from anywhere with extremely different personality from yours.
