Families moved West part of the US to receive land provided through the Homestead Act. They have to move because there was little land in the North, and they were in a position to pay small fees for their land in the west rather than paying more on expensive Northern land. There are several success encountered by the people who moved to the West that is still realized in today’s time.

They had the ability to make their soap, grow crops and raise livestock. They contained schools and churches and assisted in the construction of school buildings. The pioneers encountered challenges in their new world such as poor housing and poor education, but they were able to promote social and economic development. The Congress should erect a national monument to appreciate the effort of the pioneers toward the development of west part of the US.
