Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention for Addictive Behaviors (MBRP) is a treatment approach designed and documented in form of a novel by Bowens, Chawla and Marlatt. This approach was developed at the University of Washington in the Addictive Behaviors Research Center. At the time, the treatment approach was meant for different individuals trying to recover from their addictive behaviors.

This relapse prevention plan can ultimately interface with the counseling component of relapse prevention. At that point, the counselor would be of utmost importance in attempting to rectify the individual’s habitual reactions or addictions, provided that the latter is open to receiving such help.
