Leadership & Intelligence Led Policing

The first barrier is rigid management system used by police. Police are constrained by the rigid management structure. Police structure is outdated and characterized by various rules. Adherence to ineffective management practices has prevented the police from adapting to various changes and fighting new types of crimes. The police management structures are bureaucratic hence decision making process takes long making it difficult for police to adapt to changes in good time. It makes it difficult for police to increase their roles in fighting crime.

The police force can also learn from other companies in the private sector such as IBM. It should start establishing programs to ensure that young recruits are mentored by aging workforce to prevent loss of information once the aging workforce retires. Additionally, employing the new workforce will bring in new ideas in the police and enable police to adapt new technologies in crime control.
