Leadership Effects on Members’ Attitude, Behaviour and Political Activity: The strength of different unions varies greatly, with some unions showing considerable strength and influence while others have little effect and often pass unnoticed.
Additionally, among the strong unions, there is a significant variance in a single union’s strength that changes from time to time. Sometimes, the union is seen as strong while other times the union’s influence dwindles into a dim light.
In this particular case, it is important to consider that a union’s strength is measure through the response of the members to the union’s activities. This is done by looking at member’s attitudes towards the union’s leadership and the subsequent member participation that results.
