Nonverbal communication is a way of expressing messages through gesture, body language, and facial expression. Physical approaches include gesture, posture, physiological response and manner of movement. Since the business involve human interaction, understanding the element of nonverbal communication can be an enormous benefit in terms of working with clients, competitors, colleagues and potential clients. Communication is required in establishing efficiency and success in the workplace. Understanding the importance of nonverbal communication make workers understand requirements and expectations in the workplace. This paper seeks to discuss the importance of nonverbal communication.

Nonverbal communication of healthcare providers is crucial to patients because it affects several aspects of healthcare including patients’ adherence to treatment, patients’ recovery, and survival. Patients are sensitive to health care providers’ nonverbal behavior because they are nervous and insecure and want to discern the true feeling of the provider.
