In today’s dynamic business world and increased globalization, the emergent and growing role of human resource management experts is to help firms to build, sustain, and persistently advance the policies, approaches and strategies that are necessary to acquire and maintain a position of competitive advantage and market forte. Moreover, the competitive nature of today’s marketplace demands human resource professionals with an extended role within the firm, attributable to increased significance of societal and relationship capital.
The challenge for the human resource professional is to acquire and apply influence to develop into a more superior strategic partner; to define where the organization is going, and to utilize the organization’s human resources purpose to help show the way.

The authors assert that the future of an organization to a huge degree is reliant on the placement and maintenance of talented people in the right positions (Devine & Powell, 2008). In this area, the manager must also pay attention to employment laws that govern employee-employer relationships.
These laws and regulations include Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Civil Rights Act of 1991, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Equal Pay Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures. In addition, the managers must also adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Act and Fair Labor Standards Act to guarantee safe workplaces (Sims & Sauser, 2014).
