The aging process is accompanied by issues and different aspects that raise concern in the modern society. The issues and aspects have an implication on the physical and emotional well-being of an individual as he or she approaches old age. Some of the issues affecting the elderly in the society are rooted in the beliefs and stereotypes existing in the society. Negative age myths and stereotypes have a negative impact on the psychological and physical well-being of the elderly in the community.
