Environmental and energy issues
Environment and energy issues seem to provide direction on gubernatorial race between democratic and republican candidates. Current governor, Tom Corbett and his competitor Tom Wolf have been engaging each other on the debate of energy policy (Boyer, 2014). Climate change is another stressed issue by most politicians hence Cobbett and Wolf are not exceptional. To be assured of a win on the next coming election, Tom Corbett has to addresses the issued carefully because his competitor Tom Wolf has come out as a big threat.
In the past decades, issue of energy has not been an issue to address in the gubernatorial race. In the current year again, the issue again may seem to have less weight since the two gubernatorial aspirant supports natural gas drilling (Boyer, 2014).

Most residents of Pennsylvania are for the idea of gas drilling but be done in the safest way for the environment (Phillips, 2014). In such case, Wolf concern for the environment may win most people concerned about environment degradation and minding little on severance tax since it does not affect them directly (Boyer, 2014). On the other hand, Corbett may lure votes from the point of economy concerns. Again severance tax provides Corbett with platform to attack Wolf as one who does not support energy industry in the state of Pennsylvania (The Associated Press, 2014).
