Educational testing, access to college admission and life chances
Authors consider educational testing a barrier for the Black and Latino students in having equal access to selected colleges. SAT is an ability test evaluating on the verbal and reasoning abilities of the applicant. ACT is more of an accomplishment test; it measures what an applicant has learnt so far. Both tests require one to be good in reading and writing hence a discouraging point for Black and Latino applicants. In comparison to their counterparts, they have a lesser chance of joining selected colleges since they end up failing the tests. Authors view the tests as elimination spots for those whom English is not a fast language.

Reflecting on both scenarios, American institutions use the wrong tactics in ensuring students get the proper education. Racial discrimination exists in USA from a much-concealed perspective. Use of SAT and ACT is a form of prejudice in disguise. Education should be for all, an educated country is a prosperous country. China is growing at a very fast rate posing a threat to America. College education should be offered indiscriminately to all and for all.
