An ecosystem is a combination of all living (animals, plants, and organisms) and nonliving (weather, atmosphere, soil, earth, and temperatures) and their interaction in a given environment. It is a complex, but awesome interaction of living things and their environment.  Each organism plays a specific role within an ecosystem ensuring energy flow and recycling of carbon and nitrogen gases. Introduction of a stranger or change in the external factor such as a rise in temperature can be disastrous to the entire ecosystem because the new factor distorts the nature of balance in the interactions of organisms.

Human activities also result to emission of greenhouse gases that affect the sea level resulting to global warming. Higher temperatures result to melting of the glacier and the ice crust in the Greenland. Excessive use of pesticides, fossil fuels, and other chemicals also emits nitrogen gases that are disastrous to freshwater ecosystem. Freshwater ecosystems comprise of both living and non-living organisms. It is affected by both biotic and abiotic factors. Human activities affect the ecosystem through pollution resulting reduction of essential gases and production of disastrous gases. To safe freshwater ecosystem, human beings should take responsibility of preserving the environment.
