In her arguments, Kamenetz states that modern colleges and universities do not provide the pathway or ticket out of poverty as it used to do traditionally. This brings out the issue of Edupunks and “Do It Yourself” (DIY) learning. She foresees that in the coming years, higher learning will cease being relevant or grow weaker, and the set of services they offer such as theoretical learning, socialization, a diploma, networking, and hands-on learning will be divided into separate entities as each institution attempt to specialize.
