Erikson just as similar to Freud found out that personality development occurs in stages that are often predetermined. Freud uses a psychosexual approach in his theory while Erikson uses an individual’s experiences in their social life in their life time.

how well the individual is able to cope with changes. And develop skills that are a contribution to the society (Bloom, 2011).

Erikson has used personality in the view of both change and stability. In this regard, it is viewe that personality is stable as childhood experiences tend to influence the adult stages and will determine the way one will behave in the future.

Despite the fact that personality changes gradually, there are challenges that the whole development stage will face and some of these are part of the development stages and also must be a way to seek alternatives in growth.
