Challenges encountered when using the Internet to carry VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a cluster of technologies used for the conveyance of multimedia services over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, like the Internet (Epps, Tanner & Silva, 2006). It can be used for telephony. It has advanced greatly in the last ten years, and it is fast threatening to replace the public switched telephone network (PTSN) and even the MPLS. However, because it is an application run on the internet, it has inherited a share of the challenges faced by the internet.

VoIP is cheaper and more efficient since it offers a merger of voice, data and video and hence is preferable compared to other methods. It can also be a way that the employees can be connected when mobile during emergencies on their IP phones. It makes the technology a key advancement that should be nurtured since it offers the promise of transforming telecommunication for organizations.
