bottle deposit laws

There are several states in the United States which use container deposit legislation popularly known as bottle deposit laws. The law requires a fundamental deposit for certain types of recyclable beverages. This is done to increase the recycling rate United States has an overall recycling rate of 33 percent. Producers have the responsibility to dispose the returned products while consumers are responsible for collecting the refunds ( Lokensgard 18).

Unlike other bottle bills in other states, California bottle bill utilizes all the infrastructure such as private, public and non-profit infrastructure to provide container recycling. The California bottle bill compliments rather than competing with the programs. The bill eliminates expensive and pointless sorting of the containers by brand and distributors ( Feldman 93).
