Baltimore Basilica and Notre-Dame

Baltimore Basilica and Notre-Dame :Benjamin Henry Latrobe was a British trained architect and who had migrated to the United States and he is famous for designing buildings such as the Baltimore Basilica and the United States Capitol. The Baltimore Basilica was later renamed the Basilica of The National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and was constructed between 1806 and 1821. There were factors that influenced its design and structure.

Both Baltimore Basilica and Notre-Dame were great structures by Benjamin Latrobe and Eugene Viollet-le-Duc, and they still exist today. They are perfect displays of architecture and are admired by the contemporary architects.

Both Baltimore Basilica and Notre-Dame are cathedrals and are, therefore, used for religious services. They were constructed in the form of huge halls for accommodating large Christian congregation. Both buildings were aisled, longitudinal and had huge windows for the purpose of illuminating inside.
