Ballad of the Landlord Langston Hughes

Ballad of the Landlord Langston Hughes:This poem talks about confrontation between a tenant and a landlord. They argue the landlord’s maintenance problems but the landlord does not do anything, but to remind him that his rent is due. Later, the tenant refuses to pay the rent, claiming that he will pay as soon as the landlord repairs all the faulty areas in those houses. This leads to a nasty confrontation where the poor tenant ends up in jail for 90 days without bail.

…………………………………….middle of paper…………………………..

The rhymes and meter that the author used all come to a cease and the tenant’s voice is replaced with the landlord’s cries to the authority.

Through this, the author shows how black people are oppressed and take the blame for everything, even when they are not the ones completely wrong. In addition, this shows how black people cases are published so as to promote hatred, they are not given an option to get off the hook using bail.
