As a merchant in the colony, I believe I am in a better position to understand the grievances (if true) of those who could choose to rebel. The so called “rebellious underground press” has been greatly discredited by the colonial leadership in America. While we recognize our duties as part of the English colony, we have to accept the facts as they are on the ground. Trade in America is greatly impaired by the restrictions placed upon it by the authorities.

The favoritism shown towards the company by the authorities only serve to breed hatred for the company. The best situation for the company and for the American colony would be to allow a free hand in trade. That would also help the colony and the tax collecting authorities to gain more.
