Activism as Sustained By People in the Movement:Asian Americas are those American whose have an Asian descent. They are believed to have Asian backgrounds. In the article, ‘Yuri Kochiyama’s Activism ‘Sustained By the People in the Movement’ Jamilah King talks about Kochiyama, who was dedicated to social activism. Kochiyama’s family was imprisoned during the Second World War. She then saw the rise of various movements such as Black Arts and the Black Power in 1970s.

The Japanese Americans were confined in specific areas, and it was largely because of the Japan Empire’s attack on the Pearl Harbor. But with the efforts of Yuri Kochiyama, the Japanese American were released and reimbursed. In Jamilah’s article, Kochiyama claims that the success of the movement was as a result of a resilient spirit among the movement members.
