A trip to Mars

Taking a trip to this planet Mars can be unlike anything ever experienced by people before. As humans travel away at thousands upon thousands of kilometers every hour in a pretty tiny capsule, the Earth gets smaller and smaller until it is eventually just a minute dot (Gatesbury 5). The overwhelming feeling of empty space around a person is almost crushing. Communication networks with Earth takes longer and longer, ultimately causing even thirty minute delays between messages.

For instance, a 600-day trip for the four crew members needs 2400 kg of whole food and 1200 kg of dry food. In addition, the crew members can also include other materials for personal entertainment. If they use batteries, then enough batteries to last throughout the trip should be carried.
