1984( George Orwell):Nineteen Eighty-Four is a novel by George Orwell and was published in 1949. Winston Smith is the protagonist in the novel and works for the Ministry of Truth. The ministry was in charge of historical revisionism and propaganda. His duty was to rewrite past newspaper articles for the purpose of making them correspond to the current party line. Smith is depicted as a skillful and a diligent worker but his hate towards Big Brother (party leader) makes him dream of a rebellion.

The regime made use of technology, manipulation, and cruel physical control against the people. Those who were thought to be criminals had to endure torture from the Thought Police. Again, the regime used diligent people such as Winston Smith to achieve its selfish goals
